Weblog

  • I haven't been on Xanga since the beginning of summer and it seems oddly weird to come back to it. Why? I'm not really sure! I read some blogs and 'revamped' my profile a little bit and updated a recent photo of myself. And now I'm blogging about....hmm...nothing really. It's just a random blog, I suppose. No topic of any sort so I suppose I should talk about what's going on in my life, right? Because I sure find it interesting lol.

I'm still going to school part-time while working full-time and am finishing up two classes this semester. I have two more classes for the Spring and then off I go transfer to a state university. Yay! It's been a long time coming!  As for work, I had a scare last month since my employer was proposing to reduce our work hours. Not the greatest since these are hard, economic times for everyone including myself. The hours haven't been reduced....yet...its still being discussed but being that my employer is a government entity, I'm sure it'll take them awhile to come up with something.

Aside from that, I'm excited to say that my boyfriend and I may be homeowners soon! Very exciting time! We have been looking for a few months and over this past weekend, we found two we liked. The first one was a corner lot home and the second was a model home. We got outbided on the corner house (it made my boyfriend sad; it was a 3 car garage and had lots of space) and are now awaiting to see if we got the model home...so far it's looking good but we won't know for sure until Sunday when we talk to the builder.

I'm also looking forward to Black Friday. No, I'm not buying anything big but its a tradition that I go out that morning...no, I'm not one of those people that stand in line at Best Buy at 11pm the night before in hopes of getting a desktop or TV. This year, I'll be going with my friend and we're planning on hitting the outlets first. This'll be my first time going to the outlets for Black Friday.

Anyhow, I hope to blog a little more but I think I said that in one of my last blogs a few months ago so I'm hoping this time around, I have the time to blog!

    See you guys around!

  • Meetup

Meetup is a website where you can 'meetup' with people to do activities of your interest and make new friends at the same time. I was told about this website last summer by someone and decided to check it out for several reasons.

    1. Though I have my own circle of friends, I am on the only one without kids so its not too often I get to hang out with them. And when I do, it really depends if they can find a babysitter. So making some new friends that I could just go hang out with on short notice kind of pushed me to find out more about Meetup.

    2. I get bored easily. I'm one of those people who have a variety of interests. And when I say 'variety', I seriously mean it! And on Meetup, there are easily a ton of groups that I could join that would make me happy.

So I joined Meetup in July 2008. I joined quite a few groups initially but slowly removed myself from some since I couldn't find the time to go to some of their events. Currently, I'm in the following groups:

    Hiking and Adventure
    Scrapbooking
    DayTrippers
    20 Something's
    Addicted to Adventure
    Chick Lit Book Club

There's always an event going on each day so the more groups you belong to, the more events there are to choose from! I really like the fact that I can 'meetup' with people who have these interests that I do. The people I've met are all great and fun to be with and I'm always excited about the events that I choose to go to. My next several events include:

    Kayaking
    Happy Hour
    Book Club
    Indoor Kart Racing
    SkyDiving
    Rafting (in gentle waters though)

And much more! My friends are really not into all of this so I do go to the Meetups alone. I think I only have one friend who likes to be adventurous as I am but she is sometimes busy. And I can forget about my boyfriend. He's not into those things either. So its just me.

But I enjoy it so its actually not bad at all. After all, I'm having fun, aren't I?

  • My 29th Birthday

I officially turn 29 today. And it was celebrated last night. Unbeknownst to me, there had been a surprise party in the works for awhile now. I had a vague clue that something might be going on but it was kept so hush-hush that I thought I was wrong.

Anyhow, my boyfriend's father's birthday is on April 17 and my birthday is today, April 18. Several days ago, my boyfriend nonchalantly told me to dress up for dinner for Friday night. Since I knew we were going to his father's birthday dinner that night, I asked why I had to dress up if we were just eating at our usual restaurant and not a fancy one. He couldn't answer and just said, "Dress up". Hmm.

Well, come Friday, I come home from work to get ready for the dinner party and I do dress up...just a little. So we go eat with his family and after dinner, he said, "Let's go to Target." I look at him strangely since I'm the one that loves Target, not him. Alright. Whatever. Maybe he needed something. So we walk around Target and we're there for about half an hour. We left and headed home. Or so I thought. After 10 minutes, he asked me to close my eyes. What? I said I wouldn't do it and asked why he was acting so weird but he wouldn't reply. He only insisted that I close my eyes which I did.

I'm led out of the car blindly now (his hands are covering my eyes now) and we walk into a building. I was scared by this point because I wasn't sure what the hell was going on. And what do you know? When he let me open my eyes, I see a group of my friends and some coworkers sitting at a table. "Surprise!"

I had a great time eating and drinking with all of them. We even hung out at the bar afterwards. We were at some sushi bar downtown that had a bar on the other side and karoake as well. My cake was HUGE (thank goodness 29 candles weren't on it!) and the one gift I got that I've wanted for awhile now has been the iPhone. Thanks to my best friend and boyfriend!

This birthday tops all my birthdays because I have so much in my life that I never thought possible. My best friend told me this morning that my boyfriend really got into the planning of my surprise birthday dinner and she was in awe because it showed how much he truly loves me.

    Happy Birthday to Me!

  • When I'll blog

I've been a Xanga member since November 2008 but have not posted anything exciting or interesting. I love writing and that is the main reason I joined Xanga. However, keeping up with school and work and my personal life is like a juggling act. If I'm on Xanga, I'm usually reading other blogs that I subscribe to or using the Pulse feature or, I'm blogging about something that's currently happening in my personal life.

School ends in May for me and that's when I'll get a chance to really blog about things I've wanted to blog for a long time. Though summer school starts in June for me, I'll only be taking one class as oppose to the three classes I'm currently taking. So stay tuned and I hope people get a chance to see who I am as a blogger and as a person!
